The event celebrates the importance of native seeds through poems and songs initiated by GOETHE Institute Max Muller Bhavan. This will be performed by India's renowned ecological restoration practitioners: Manasi Karandikar and Ketaki Ghate (co-founders of oikos for ecological services).

Celebrate World Wildlife Day with us! Join us for our day filled with fun activities and opportunities to learn about wildlife trade, pets, and more! We are also fundraising for Proyecto Titi, which is a conservation organization dedicated to Cotton Top Tamarinds.

This is an environmental festival to promote environmental sensibilization of local communities in San José Costa Rica. A special feature of the activity is the collaborative work of several ngos, goverment and local communities.
Under the concept of "One Health" the agenda include sports, enironmental stands and circular economy, with art expressions and culture.

World renown photographer Ian Hutton, who is the curator of the Lord Howe Island Museum, and award-winning oil artist Selva Ozelli from the Hudson Valley teamed up to bring a taste of Lord Howe Island Group to the Cunneen Hackett Art Center with their art show titled “Paradise.”

This art show captures the wildlife beauty of Lord Howe Island Group which was inscribed on the World Heritage Register in 1982 under the United Nations' World Heritage Convention in recognition of its superlative natural phenomena and its rich terrestrial and marine biodiversity as an outstanding example of an island ecosystem developed from submarine volcanic origin containing a unique biota of plants and animals, as well as the world’s most southerly true coral reef. It is an area of spectacular and scenic landscapes with cloud forests encapsulated within a small land area. It provides important breeding grounds for colonies of seabirds, coral fish as well as a significant natural habitat for the conservation of threatened species.

In celebration of World Wildlife Day 2025, SD11 Youth Community is proud to announce the launch of our flagship initiative, 'Youth Urban Ecosystems.' This program will empower youth collaboration at local, national, regional, and global levels to build, preserve and strengthen sustainable urban ecosystems. This initiative will specifically focus on fauna and flora enrichment within cities, urban forests, and green implementation spearheaded by youth. Building on our participation in the World Wildlife Day Regional Youth Symposium 2025 and our panel discussion, “Building Healthier Urban Communities through Green and Public Spaces,” at the Phnom Penh Houseplant Festival on March 1st and 2nd respectively, we are prioritising this project as a key initiative. To further engage youth, we will launch a “7-day campaign”, beginning today, to share seven youth perspectives on their role in protecting and promoting urban ecosystems.

Through Golden Karma Trail Tails, Spirit, our Golden Retriever mascot, brings viewers on his golden energy journey to share inspiring tales from the natural world. Through Spirit, one gets to learn about and experience the healing and restorative effects of nature by taking a virtual walk in the woods, meeting Spirit's many friends, and soaking in the positive energies found in the wild.

On World Wildlife Day, Spirit will share a short video in which he talks about the various animals in the wild – from bees to whales – who make a significant contribution to the greater good and how biodiversity is essential to maintain our planet's health. See link to video in "link" field.

This World Wildlife Day, we highlight the urgent and pervasive challenge of wildlife crime. Illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion-dollar industry, driven by demand for exotic pets, traditional medicine, luxury goods, and trophies. Weak legal frameworks, corruption, and inadequate enforcement allow traffickers to operate with impunity, while limited resources hinder conservation efforts in the fight against poaching and trafficking.

The transnational nature of wildlife crime complicates enforcement, with online platforms further enabling anonymous illegal trade. Meanwhile, habitat destruction from deforestation and climate change, along with human-wildlife conflict, pushes communities toward poaching, accelerating species decline. Despite these many challenges, we are successfully combatting many illegal wildlife trade efforts.

To explore this critical issue, we are joined by two distinguished experts: John E. Scanlon, an international environmental leader with a distinguished career in law, policy, and conservation, and Prof. Phill Cassey, head of the Wildlife Crime Research Hub at the University of Adelaide. Together, they will help unravel the complexities of this global crisis.

With the intense and often violent expansion of our anthropogenic world, the habitat of the animals around us is shrinking and human-wildlife interactions are becoming more frequent. On 20 December 2013 at the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), March 3 was declared United Nations World Wildlife Day (WWD). This day holds significance as the day that the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was signed in 1973.
People everywhere rely on wildlife and biodiversity-based resources to meet our needs - from food, to fuel, medicines, housing, and clothing. For us to enjoy the benefits and the beauty that nature brings us and our planet, people have been working together to make sure ecosystems are able to thrive and plant and animal species are able to exist for future generations.
In 2025, World Wildlife Day is be celebrated under the critical theme of "Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet."
On 3 March 2025 FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation together with UNEP and the National Committee of the UN Decade for Ecosystems Restoration in Russia organizes a press conference at TASS News Agency and a conference at the UN House in Moscow.

The proposed program will focus on Wildlife Habitat Management, which will be initiated by removing plastics and trash while walking through the campus and its environs. Clean and green initiative will help wildlife thrive and enhance the condition of corridors for migratory birds and wildlife.

A l’occasion de la célébration de la Journée mondiale de la vie sauvage, qui tombe le 3 mars de chaque année, et dont le thème de cette année était « Financement de la conservation de la vie sauvage : investir dans les pour l’humanité et la planète », La Conservation des forêts de la Wilaya de Relizane, en coordination avec la Faculté des sciences naturelles et de la vie de l’Université de Relizane a organisé une journée d’étude et de sensibilisation au profit des étudiants de Master 1, deuxième et troisième année spécialité Environnement et Environnement, où une présentation a été faite sur la vie sauvage dans la Wilaya de Relizane et le rôle de l'administration des forêts et de la recherche scientifique dans la préservation de cette importante diversité végétale et animale face aux graves menaces. Enfin, une opération de plantation symbolique a été réalisée avec la participation des professeurs et des étudiants de la faculté.

The Department of Forestry and the Department of Journalism at Sir Syed College, Taliparamba, are jointly organizing an academic observance of World Wildlife Day 2025 under the theme "Human-Wildlife Interface: Navigating Conflicts for Coexistence." The event aims to promote a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges posed by human-wildlife conflicts and the critical need for fostering coexistence through sustainable conservation practices.

Human-wildlife conflicts have emerged as a pressing global challenge, particularly in the wake of rapid habitat fragmentation, climate change, and expanding human settlements. Addressing these conflicts requires a nuanced understanding of ecological, socio-economic, and cultural dimensions. The program aspires to provide a platform for academic discourse and creative engagement, bridging scientific inquiry with visual narratives to inspire innovative solutions for harmonious coexistence.

As part of the event, a Photography Competition will be conducted to encourage participants to document the dynamic interactions between humans and wildlife. The competition invites photographic submissions that depict various aspects of human-wildlife interface, including conflicts, coexistence, and conservation efforts. The visual representations are expected to provoke critical reflections on the underlying causes of conflicts and the need for inclusive conservation strategies.

In addition, a Documentary Screening will showcase thought-provoking visual narratives that delve into human-wildlife conflict scenarios from both global and local perspectives. The documentary screening will be followed by an interactive discussion session, providing an opportunity for participants to engage in critical conversations on the ecological, social, and ethical dimensions of human-wildlife interactions.

It provides important breeding grounds for colonies of seabirds as well as a significant natural habitat for the conservation of threatened species.

CIEDM is programmed to hold an observational walk at Arcadia Ecohome, a Certified Wildlife Habitat as part of CIEDM's citizen science project and to share online the outcome of the observations.

Hundreds of billions of dollars are needed each year to close the global wildlife finance gap – a gap that we must bridge to ensure the survival of species and the ecosystems that sustain us all. Wildlife finance is more than a tool – it’s a commitment. A commitment to the planet, wildlife and plants, and a shared future where nature and humanity thrive together.

The City of Sorocaba held the “Bloco dos Bichos” (Wildlife Carnival Block) on Saturday (March 1st), at the Sorocaba Zoo and Sorocaba Historical Museum, aimed at children aged 3 to 10, to celebrate World Wildlife Day (March 3rd).

With music and fun and educational activities, the Bloco dos Bichos was held by the Secretariat of the Environment, Protection and Animal Welfare (Sema) and the Secretariat of Culture (Secult), and was attended by around 60 children.

The aim was to publicize the date, encourage participation in cultural activities and draw people's attention to the need to conserve wild animals, leading them to reflect on their relationship with nature and the environment in which they live.

Children participated in a workshop on making carnival masks, themed around endangered Brazilian wild animals, such as the maned wolf, the jaguar, the golden lion tamarin, the black-billed toucan, the loggerhead turtle and the whitetip shark, and a workshop on making biodegradable confetti, made from dried tree leaves.

There were also games, such as “put the tail on the maned wolf”, and different games, such as Footprint Dominoes, Animal Dominoes, the Brazilian Primate Memory Game, the Nature Record Game, as well as books and comics about animals.

There were also stuffed animals for the little ones to play with, face painting and an exhibition of animals made from recycled materials.

In celebration of World Wildlife Day 2025, LUMO Conservancy Youth Forum, in collaboration with Wushumbu Youth Forum, will lead a Clean-up and Awareness Walk along the Mwaktau–LUMO highway stretch. Under the global theme, "Wildlife Conservation Finance – Investing in People and Planet," the event highlights the critical link between sustainable conservation and community well-being.

This initiative focuses on creating cleaner shared spaces for wildlife and people, fostering youth participation in conservation, and promoting environmental responsibility within the community. Through practical actions like roadside clean-ups and community engagement, we are making an intentional investment in a healthier ecosystem while empowering local youth to become stewards of conservation.

Join us on March 1st, 2025, as we take steps—literally and symbolically—toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for both people and wildlife.

This very special fundraiser event is taking place on April 26th at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre. The fundraiser is called Stand Up #ForTheWildlife and aims to gather support for our hospital's vital work, which includes providing professional veterinary care to all native Australian wildlife species. The fundraiser is scheduled one day before World Veterinary Day to raise awareness and appreciation for veterinarians all over the globe.
 
The event will feature entertainment, including:
* A screening of "Wildlife Rescue," a TV show produced about our hospital.
* A Comedy Show set by an Australian Comedian (announcement coming soon) .
* Drinks and Food
* Silent Auction of art, experiences and vouchers.

For 12 years, the Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center (RIC-XI) through Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has been the hub for biodiversity monitoring and research, training, and demonstration activities and the focal point in undertaking the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign in coordination with the Convention on Biodiversity’s efforts in Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA).

In celebration of World Wildlife Day in 2024, we conducted an IEC campaign entitled "REthinking Impact: An IEC on Marine Conservation and Regenerative Development." It's grounded in the urgent need to address the critical challenges facing marine ecosystems and wildlife conservation. The target participants of the said IEC campaign are the students of Barangay Dahican, Bobon, and Tamisan. This activity will be implemented over three consecutive weeks, targeting six schools.

We successfully conducted our first week of the IEC campaign on March 13, 2024, at the Benito G. Rabat Executive Elementary School and Don Luis Rabat Sr. Memorial School. The activity commenced with informative sessions and interactive presentations at two beneficial schools in Dahican.

This activity was organized by DORSU - BSES GreenPulse in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences—Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science Program, DORSU Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center XI, DORSU Center for Futures Thinking and Regenerative Development, DORSU M2P2 Research Program, Mama Earth Foundation, DENR-Community of Environment and Natural Resources Office (Mati), BFAR-Provincial Fisheries Office (Davao Oriental), MASONIC District R-XI (Davao Oriental), City of Mati LGU, rrreefs, Sangguniang Kabataan-Barangay Dahican, Project Para Sa Bayan, City ENRO, Sawom Davao Oriental and Coast Guard Station (Davao Oriental).

As we reflect on its achievements, it is evident that RIC-XI will continue to inspire future generations to safeguard our precious coastal resources for years to come.

This orientation activity aims to provide an overview on the features and functionalities of the eCITES PH to wildlife permittees. eCITES PH is an online permitting system developed by the Bureau with the assistance from the DENR-ADB/GEF IWT Project to facilitate the processing of permit applications for import, export, and re-export of terrestrial wildlife listed under the said Convention. Annually, over 1000 CITES Permits are issued by BMB through manual process for commercial, personal, and scientific purposes. Birds, reptiles, mammals, insects, and plants including by-products and derivatives such as handbags, shoes, watchstraps were among the wildlife specimens subject for international trade. With that, the automation of permitting system is seen as crucial for the issuance of CITES Permits to manage and regulate the international trade in wildlife. The automation of CITES processes enforces regulations, increases transparency, and reduces opportunities for corruption and use of fraudulent documents. Likewise, the eCITES PH will help applicants keep track of their applications online.

La Salida de Observación de Vida Silvestre en el Parque Guasú, promovida por la Asociación Defensores del Chaco dentro del marco del programa de guardaparques voluntarios, es una iniciativa destinada a involucrar a la comunidad en la conservación y protección de la vida silvestre en esta área natural protegida.

El Parque Guasú, ubicado en la región oriental, es un hábitat importante para una diversidad de especies de flora y fauna. Sin embargo, enfrenta amenazas como la presencia de especies exóticas invasoras (plantas), construcciones de cancha, ingreso de animales domésticos, amenaza de incendios forestales, debido a actividades humanas. En respuesta a estos desafíos, la Asociación Defensores del Chaco ha desarrollado un programa de guardaparques voluntarios para fortalecer la participación de la ciudadanía en el cuidado del Parque.

La Salida de Observación de Vida Silvestre es una actividad específica dentro de este programa, diseñada para sensibilizar a los participantes sobre la importancia de la conservación de la vida silvestre y para fomentar una conexión más profunda con la naturaleza. Durante esta salida, los participantes tienen la oportunidad de ser acompañdos por guías, donde pueden observar y aprender sobre la flora y fauna local, así como sobre los ecosistemas presentes en la región.

Celebrate World Wildlife Day with our local wildlife. Discover the different species that call Victoria home. Some of these elusive animals might be living in your own backyard and this is your chance to meet them up close. Eastern blue-tongue lizards, bearded dragons, eastern long-necked turtles, carpet pythons, owls, frogs and sugar-gliders are some of the animals that you'll get to meet on the day. You will be amazed by the biodiversity that can be found right on your doorstep.

This is an indoors event. Meet at the Visitor Centre at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary. Entry to the carpark near Visitor Centre is from Central Road opposite Gwenda Avenue. There is ample parking along Central Road as well.

This is a free event but tickets are limited, hence registration is mandatory. Tickets need to be booked for children only, adults accompanying children don't need to book a ticket. Adult supervision of children is mandatory.

If you have booked but can't attend please cancel your ticket to make your spot available to others.

The event will be cancelled if there is a Total Fire Ban.

The treasure hunt is designed to be a fun and educational experience at the zoo, where families work together to solve clues, puzzles, and challenges. By participating in this treasure hunt, participants will get to be part of the conservation effort of Malaysia's Most Critically Endangered Forest Tortoise, the Elongated Tortoise and other local species too!

The Kuala Lumpur Sea Scout Muster 2024 is an initiative by Kuala Lumpur Charlie Rovers (Sea) to train and expose young Sea Scouts to Sea Scouting and seamanship traditions which include elements of Marine Conservation, Sustainable Fishing Practices, Sailing, and Water Rescue.

The word "Muster" means a formal gathering or assembly, in this case it is to bring about young Sea Scouts and expose them to essential non-formal education through marine-related activities. In collaboration with the Malaysia Marine Department, Peninsular Sailing Club and Scouts Association of Malaysia WP Kuala Lumpur State, this program aims to contribute towards the Sustainable Development Goals and increase awareness about the importance of Sustainable Seamanship & best practices sharing for the development of youth.

This event hopes to contribute to World Wildlife Day 2024 via its holistic marine-related programme which educates the youth about the Life Below Water and the importance of conserving our coastal biodiversity through sustainable best practices from the professional sector and civil society.

It will take place from the 1st to 3rd March 2024 at the Maritime Transport Training Institute (MATRAIN) & Peninsular Sailing Club in Port Klang, Selangor Malaysia & co-hosted by the Malaysia Marine Department.

Following a keynote address by Peter Houlihan, Executive VP of Biodiversity & Conservation at XPRIZE Foundation, a first panel will discuss the general use, advancements, and limitations of technology in conservation efforts. Panelists will assess the application of artificial intelligence to camera trap and bio-acoustic data to more quickly isolate threats or identify wildlife. A second panel will explore how to better thwart the online trade of endangered and protected wildlife and wildlife products. The Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online will provide an update on its efforts, and eBay will explain how its AI tools help keep trafficked wildlife products off their platform.

World wildlife day lecture 2024

NatureUganda working together with Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities with support from WWF, UWRTI and Tusk Trust have organized a National Wildlife Conservation Conference at the Uganda Museum. The one conference will feature presentation from leading conservation organizations and or experts in Uganda that explore digital innovations in wildlife conservation in Uganda. Participants will include all government conservation institutions, civil society, academia and members of NatureUganda.

The Department of Biotechnology, Bon Secours College for Women will conduct the competition entitled Youth Craft Context to commemorate World Wildlife Day 2024, in align with the theme Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation for importing the knowledge on the importance of Digital innovation for Conserving the wild life.

A venue to formally recognize private individuals and non-DENR officials/personnel who have provided invaluable assistance and unqualified support to the DENR in enforcing the provisions of the Wildlife Act (RA 9147). For the past ten (10) years, the DENR has conferred the award to 880 recipients from various enforcement partner agencies and civil society organizations, including private individuals. For this year, more than two hundred officials/personnel primarily from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine National Police – Maritime Group (PNP-MG), Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and PNP Police Regional Offices will be formally commended for their valuable assistance and dedication to wildlife law enforcement from January to December 2023.

The awarding ceremony will also serve as a venue for the DENR to call for stronger support and greater commitment from each of the awardees and their respective institutions/ agencies to curb illegal wildlife trade. It will also be a way to encourage support from a wider sector of the society and the Filipino citizenry in protecting wildlife.
