The Bioparc Genève welcomes you to join their World Wildlife Day 2025 activities to learn, think and act for endangered wild animals!



Learn about the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) from CITES Secretary-General Ms Ivonne Higuero and discover the stories of the macaws, lemurs, lynxes and other fauna (even Janus the two-headed tortoise!) on a free guided tour of the park by Bioparc Director Dr Tobias Blaha!

Think and test your knowledge of the species in the park through the World Wildlife Day 2025 Contest (to win a free guided feeding of the lemurs)!

Act for wildlife conservation by bringing a stone to help build the Bioparc reptile solarium!

The high-level event for UN World Wildlife Day 2025 will take place on 3 March 2025 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (10:00AM-12:00PM Central European Time).
Experts from around the world and International Geneva will highlight innovative financial mechanisms for wildlife conservation and share actionable pathways to mobilize the financial resources for investing in the future of our planet. This event will feature a musical performance with medicinal plants, an expert panel discussion on the 2025 theme, statements from Member States, the announcement of the winner of the International Youth Art Contest, and a trailer premiere of the 2025 Jackson Wild Film Showcase!

Interpretation in English, French and Spanish will be available.

During this session, we will explore the importance of wildlife and discuss ways in which children can get involved in its protection. It all starts with understanding why wildlife matters and how we can contribute as young advocates. Education is a vital investment in wildlife protection.

The school challenges will include activities like dance, drawing, and writing about wildlife. We will focus on our favorite animals and discuss why they are important and how we can protect them. at my school (Trinity Primary School) to educate students about wildlife. This year’s theme is Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet. Our planet’s amazing biodiversity is priceless, but protecting it comes at a cost. Hundreds of billions of dollars are needed each year to close the global wildlife finance gap – a gap that we must bridge to ensure the survival of species and the ecosystems that sustain us all. Wildlife finance is more than a tool – it’s a commitment. A commitment to the planet, wildlife and plants, and a shared future where nature and humanity thrive together.
We are preparing to celebrate this again this year: we are waiting for everyone with feeding demonstrations, crafts and educational programs on March 1st, at our Wildlife Day event!

In celebration of World Wildlife Day 2025, LUMO Conservancy Youth Forum, in collaboration with Wushumbu Youth Forum, will lead a Clean-up and Awareness Walk along the Mwaktau–LUMO highway stretch. Under the global theme, "Wildlife Conservation Finance – Investing in People and Planet," the event highlights the critical link between sustainable conservation and community well-being.

This initiative focuses on creating cleaner shared spaces for wildlife and people, fostering youth participation in conservation, and promoting environmental responsibility within the community. Through practical actions like roadside clean-ups and community engagement, we are making an intentional investment in a healthier ecosystem while empowering local youth to become stewards of conservation.

Stand Up #FortheWildlife Fundraiser Event for World Veterinary Day is on April 26th at The Lennox Head Cultural Centre.
This very special fundraiser event is taking place on April 26th at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre. The fundraiser is called Stand Up #ForTheWildlife and aims to gather support for our hospital's vital work, which includes providing professional veterinary care to all native Australian wildlife species. The fundraiser is scheduled one day before World Veterinary Day to raise awareness and appreciation for veterinarians all over the globe.
 
The event will feature entertainment, including:
* A screening of "Wildlife Rescue," a TV show produced about our hospital.
* A Comedy Show set by an Australian Comedian (announcement coming soon) .

For 12 years, the Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center (RIC-XI) through Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has been the hub for biodiversity monitoring and research, training, and demonstration activities and the focal point in undertaking the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign in coordination with the Convention on Biodiversity’s efforts in Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA).

In celebration of World Wildlife Day in 2024, we conducted an IEC campaign entitled "REthinking Impact: An IEC on Marine Conservation and Regenerative Development." It's grounded in the urgent need to address the critical challenges facing marine ecosystems and wildlife conservation. The target participants of the said IEC campaign are the students of Barangay Dahican, Bobon, and Tamisan. This activity will be implemented over three consecutive weeks, targeting six schools.

We successfully conducted our first week of the IEC campaign on March 13, 2024, at the Benito G. Rabat Executive Elementary School and Don Luis Rabat Sr. Memorial School. The activity commenced with informative sessions and interactive presentations at two beneficial schools in Dahican.

This activity was organized by DORSU - BSES GreenPulse in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences—Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science Program, DORSU Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center XI, DORSU Center for Futures Thinking and Regenerative Development, DORSU M2P2 Research Program, Mama Earth Foundation, DENR-Community of Environment and Natural Resources Office (Mati), BFAR-Provincial Fisheries Office (Davao Oriental), MASONIC District R-XI (Davao Oriental), City of Mati LGU, rrreefs, Sangguniang Kabataan-Barangay Dahican, Project Para Sa Bayan, City ENRO, Sawom Davao Oriental and Coast Guard Station (Davao Oriental).

As we reflect on its achievements, it is evident that RIC-XI will continue to inspire future generations to safeguard our precious coastal resources for years to come.

To celebrate the World Wildlife Day, the PRAXIS team visited a local school. To teach the pupils about the importance of wildlife conservation, we build birdhouses together made out of used milk and juice boxes.

This orientation activity aims to provide an overview on the features and functionalities of the eCITES PH to wildlife permittees. eCITES PH is an online permitting system developed by the Bureau with the assistance from the DENR-ADB/GEF IWT Project to facilitate the processing of permit applications for import, export, and re-export of terrestrial wildlife listed under the said Convention. Annually, over 1000 CITES Permits are issued by BMB through manual process for commercial, personal, and scientific purposes. Birds, reptiles, mammals, insects, and plants including by-products and derivatives such as handbags, shoes, watchstraps were among the wildlife specimens subject for international trade. With that, the automation of permitting system is seen as crucial for the issuance of CITES Permits to manage and regulate the international trade in wildlife. The automation of CITES processes enforces regulations, increases transparency, and reduces opportunities for corruption and use of fraudulent documents. Likewise, the eCITES PH will help applicants keep track of their applications online.
